Overlay Maker and DynaVox DV4

Overlay Maker and DynaVox DV4

Overlay files from IntelliTools Classroom Suite documents can be saved as DynaVox Series 4 compatible files so DynaVox users can work with IntelliTools Classroom Suite actitivies.

Note: You must be using DynaVox Series 4M with software version 1.05 (or more recent).

1. Create an overlay in Overlay Maker 3 and save.

2. On the Menu bar select File and select Export to DynaVox... from the pull down menu. The default naming will be your Overlay name with the extension .dpkg (DynaVox Package) and the default save location will be the desktop. Now the Overlay Maker file is saved as DynaVox file and is ready to transfer to the DynaVox for use.

Note: There is some difference in terminology between Overlay Maker and DynaVox: An overlay has one or more levels. An overlay with multiple levels is a multi-level overlay. A DynaVox file is a package. A package may have one or more pages. Pages and levels are fairly synonymous.

3. Plug the USB Flash Drive (or any USB storage device) into a USB port on the computer. Older operating systems may require a driver. Refer to the website of the manufacturer of the USB device you are using for details on drivers and use.

4. Locate the DynaVox file with the extension .dpkg and move or copy it onto the USB storage device. When the file transfer is complete unplug the USB storage device from the computer and plug it into the USB port on the DynaVox, found on the right hand side.
