IntelliTools Classroom Suite (ICS) Updater version 3.1.0 is a free download. Included in this update is new and improved functionality and features, as well as new activities and templates.

New - IntelliPics Classic - Easy Explore Setup
- Easy Explore Setup is an alternate user interface for easily creating Explore mode activities reminiscent of the original IntelliPics (Classic). Toolbars are automatically created for the user to populate with existing buttons -- Pictures, Movements, Numbers, Colors, Sizes, IntelliQuizzes, and Backgrounds. Easy Explore places toolbars in the same configuration as the original IntelliPics.

- Document Settings for Explore mode have been moved to the Easy Explore Setup dialog window. From the IntelliPics Studio menu select Easy Explore Setup

- Existing documents can also use the Easy Explore Setup interface. You will be asked if you want Easy Explore Setup to change the appearance of existing buttons. You can choose to keep your existing button actions and appearance.

- Easy Explore Setup has limited toolbar and button editing, but you can still use the Edit Custom Toolbars and Buttons feature for additional authoring.

- Spoken Captions can now speak One, e.g. One Bear.

- The Typing Window has separate Font settings from the Caption.

- Movement speed is now adjustable. IntelliPics Classic files with custom movement speed settings will be imported with their movement speed settings.

New - Switch Scanning Enhancements
- Scanning options are now grouped under the Switch Settings submenu. This submenu includes Scanning Preferences (for the user), Set Scanning Order (for the document), and Dedicated Scanning.

- Scanning magnification is added to a user's Scanning Preferences.

- Set Scanning Order is where you can choose which toolbars are scanned, customize the order that toolbars are scanned, and customize the order that objects on a page are scanned. Note: If the default calculated scanning order meets your needs, you do not need to use Set Scanning Order.

- The document's Settings under the Options menu, has a new tab for Scanning Overrides. Some documents are best used with specific scanning preferences. Selecting scanning options on this tab will override a user's scanning preferences. Note that this tab's default settings defer to the user's Scanning Preferences.

- The Toolbar Properties and the Button Properties dialogs have a new Scanning tab where you can choose whether a toolbar or button in a toolbar will be scanned.

Importing and Exporting Activities
New - The Export feature can zip the exported files and the Import feature can unzip .zip files.

Changed - IntelliPics (Classic or legacy-AEX) files on Mac OS X can be imported without Classic mode.

Changed - IntelliPics (Classic) files can be imported from the Navigation screen. Click the Import button, or in an open IntelliPics Studio document, from the File menu select Import IntelliPics file.

Sounds Files and Recording
Changed- Record sounds up to 60 seconds.

New - Record sounds while IntelliMations play (This option allows for synchronizing the sound with the IntelliMation).

New - Recorded sounds can be exported as wav files.

IntelliMation
New - The Create IntelliMation timestrip has 4 added buttons:
1. Next 5 Seconds- moves the timestrip forward the next 5 seconds.
2. Back 5 Seconds - moves the timestrip view back 5 seconds
3. Remove a Half Second – removes time points
4. Inset a Half Second - adds time points. (For example, removing a half second time point speeds up the IntelliMation, and inserting a half second time point slows down the IntelliMation.)

Changed - Editing an IntelliMation is enhanced for inserting objects in between exiting time points.

New - action: Hide IntelliMation Timestrip and Show IntelliMation Timestrip.

Toolbars
1. All Toolbars
New - Toolbars can be aligned either Left, Right, Centered, Top, or Bottom in the Toolbar Properties dialog window, click the Toolbar tab.

New - action: Hide All Standard Toolbars.

Changed - name of "Set Standard Toolbars Hidden" action to "Prevent students from using standard toolbars in this document". The changed behavior is that non-student users will have access to the standard toolbars.

Changed - name of "Hide All Toolbars" to "Hide All Custom Toolbars".

2. Standard Toolbars
Changed - the Keep Standard Toolbars Hidden document setting and Set Standard Toolbars Hidden action are changed to prevent students from using standard toolbars in a document. Non-student users will have access to the standard toolbars.
-- Allowing the standard toolbar to show is a document preference. Whatever standard toolbar is showing when the document is saved will be the same standard toolbar showing when that document is next opened. This setting overrides a user's preferences for available standard toolbars.
-- The action Hide All Toolbars is renamed Hide All Custom Toolbars.
-- A new action is Hide All Standard Toolbars.
-- Blank new documents will not have a hidden Navigation toolbar. Instead they will open with the standard Authoring Toolbar.
-- The Finish Activity button in the standard Authoring toolbar has the actions: Show Toolbar "Navigation Toolbar", Hide All Standard Toolbars, Save As Activity.

Help
New - Help links to Appendix A: Actions You Can Assign to Buttons and/or Pages.

New - Help links to Shortcut Keys for IntelliTools Classroom Suite. This list includes Overlay Maker key content syntax.

Changed - Searchable and printable Help topics (replaces User's Guide).

Picture Library
New - Uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet are added to the Picture Library.

Actions
New - action is Insert Picture into Region… Older versions of ICS will interpret this action as two actions: Insert Picture or Name and Move Selection to Region.

New - action: Hide IntelliMation Timestrip and Show IntelliMation Timestrip.

New - action: Easy Explore Setup.

New - action: Hide IntelliMation Timestrip and Show IntelliMation Timestrip.

New – action: Hide All Standard Toolbars.
Changed - behavior for the Lock Selected Text action. You can select Toggle, Lock, or Unlock.

User Preferences
New - The user Preferences for Startup options now allows opening IntelliTools Classroom Suite with a blank new IT 3 or a blank new IPS 3 or blank new IM 3 document.

Changed - The following User Preferences are moved to the Document's Settings. These options will be selected by default. Documents made in older versions when opened in 3.1 or higher will have these options selected by default:
-- Use Sound Effects and Speak On Inserting (on the IntelliMathics 3 document's Settings, General tab -- previously, the Placement tab).
-- Play Sound and Frame Animation on Insertion (on the IntelliPics Studio 3 document's Setting, General tab).

Misc
New - Button pictures can be inserted into Text Boxes. Although selected text in text boxes can be copied and pasted, pictures in text boxes can not be copied and pasted.

Changed - IntelliTalk 3 documents without answer fields will generate reports when assigned. If there is no locked text, the question will be the document's name and the answer will be all of the text. If there is locked text, the question will be the first locked text and the answer will be the immediately following unlocked, the next question will be the next locked text and the question will be the immediately following unlocked text, etc.

New - Rich Text Formatted files (rtf) and Text formatted files (txt) can be opened in IntelliTalk 3. Graphics in Rich Text Formatted files need to be copy/pasted separately.

Changed - Teachers Options can be viewed at the 800x600 monitor resolution.

Changed - IntelliTools Classroom Suite now opens with the Administrator user automatically signed in. Change this option from the Navigation Screen, click Administrator Options.

Changed - The "Ignore Movements in Design Mode" option is moved from the Document's Settings, Explore tab to the General tab.

Significant Bug Fixes
- Check Work symbols will now appear on the right side of IntelliMathics and IntelliPics Studio pages.

- Improved playback of small size recorded sounds.

- Recorded sounds from buttons in a User's Library are no longer lost.

- The Print button for scanners will print the currently open document.

- Popping sound at the end of recorded sounds has been clipped.

- Frame animation objects will play in IntelliPics Studio Design mode.

- The Go button for the Explore mode Typing Window now persists.

- The actions Show Typing Window and Hide Typing Window now work.

- Check Work in the Grid Math Tool works as expected (Use Capture Answers to enter Answers and patterns must fill all grid cells).

- 800x600 display refinements.

- Dialog windows display is improved when Windows Large Fonts is selected.

- The IntelliPics Studio document setting "Selecting an object while another object is playing..." is fixed where unintentional mouse clicks, key presses, or switch presses were remembered while an object was playing and then played in succession. This setting is found on the document's settings General tab and also on the Options tab of the Easy Explore Setup dialog window.

- Various bug fixes and user interface enhancements.
