INTELLITOOLS LAUNCHES TWO NEW "READYMADES," EXPANDING ITS CURRICULUM-BASED OFFERINGS Petaluma, California, January 21, 2003 À IntelliToolsÂ, Inc. (www.intellitools.com), for over 20 years the pioneer in learning solutions for the diverse classroom, announces the launch of two new ReadyMadeÈ Curriculum Activities, timed to debut at the upcoming Florida Educational Technology Conference (FETC) and Texas Computer Education Assn. (TCEA) Conference in February. The new titles are: Lewis and Clark, for grades 3-5 social studies units Primary Literacy, for grades K-2 language arts units –IntelliTools is excited to be able to provide teachers of middle elementary students with a wealth of supplementary materials about the Lewis and Clark expedition À just as the bicentennial of that historic journey begins, notes Lucinda Ray, IntelliToolsê Director of Curriculum Development. –And we are confident that Primary Literacy, a ReadyMade unit that builds students reading, phonics, and story writing skills, will provide hours of engaging literacy development for beginning readers.” Lewis and Clark launches in the bicentennial year of the historic journey, now a popular unit in elementary social studies units on westward expansion. This unit includes reading comprehension, writing, map work, time lines, developing charts, writing newspapers and journals, and reading excerpts of the journals from the original expedition. Primary Literacy is a sister-product to the successful Primary Writing unit launched last fall, and a companion unit to IntelliToolsê award-winning Balanced Literacy program. These units enable beginning readers to explore and practice with the very important building blocks of beginning literacy: phonics, comprehension, reading connected text, and responding to reading through writing. About the ReadyMade Product Line: Because IntelliTools understands that many teachers do not have the time to create large numbers of activities for their students, we produce a series of ReadyMade curriculum units that provide ready-to-use interactive learning for students in math, language arts, social studies, and science. The first ReadyMade products, Primary Writing (language arts, grades K-2), Fractions 1, and Fractions 2 (math, grades 3-5), launched in 2002. Students can use ReadyMade Activities straight out of the box. All activities are aligned with state and national curriculum standards. Teachers also have the option of further modifying the activities for individual student needs using ReadyMades with IntelliToolsê authoring tools: IntelliTalk IIÂ, a talking word processor IntelliMathicsÂ, a virtual manipulatives environment IntelliPics Studio, a multimedia authoring and presentation tool And coming in the spring, two more ReadyMades are scheduled to launch: Animal Habitats (science, math, and language arts, grades K-1) Oceans (science, grades 3-5) Editors: You are invited to learn more about new and exciting IntelliTools product launches at two upcoming events and to interview Arjan Khalsa, IntelliTools Chief Executive Officer, and Lucinda Ray, Director of Curriculum Development. Both Arjan Khalsa and Lucinda Ray are available to discuss these new product launches, as well as to provide demonstrations of the products, at IntelliToolsê Booth #1521 at FETC and Booth #129 at TCEA.
