INTELLITOOLS' CAROLINE VAN HOWE NAMED
PRESIDENT OF ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY ASSN.

Petaluma, California, January 21, 2005 - IntelliTools®,
Inc. (www.intellitools.com) for 25 years a pioneer in learning solutions
for preK-8 classrooms, is pleased to announce that Caroline Van
Howe, Director of Strategic Marketing Operations at IntelliTools,
was today named President of the Assistive Technology Industry Assn.,
effective January 21, 2005. Caroline will serve a two-year term, succeeding
Sharon Spencer, Vice President of U.S. Sales & Marketing for Freedom
Scientific Blind/Low Vision Group, who will remain on the ATIA Board as
Past President ex officio.
“I am honored and proud to serve the ATIA in this capacity, and
will be focusing on the needs of the association’s rapidly growing
membership of assistive technology manufacturers and suppliers, as well
as the practitioners and parents the vendors serve,” Caroline said
on accepting the position. A member of the board for the past two years,
Caroline most recently served as the conference chair for ATIA’s
2005 conference, and earlier as co-chair.
Explaining that she works in close partnership with ATIA’s Executive
Director, David Dikter, Caroline shared that her immediate attention will
be on the association’s annual member survey, to take place in February,
which will drive its March strategic planning meeting and lay the groundwork
for ATIA’s strategic vision for the next two years.
Caroline, who joined IntelliTools in January 2000, is responsible for
strategic marketing operations at the company: product management, marketing
programs logistics for professional development and customer conferences,
international sales, and third party marketing relationships. She is a
volunteer Executive Board Member the Center for Accessible Technology,
a member of the Alliance for Technology Access. Caroline originally trained
as a teacher in the U.K. and has a secondary school level Post Graduate
Certificate in Education (P.G.C.E.) in English and Educational Drama,
and an M.A. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan.

The Assistive Technology Industry Assn. is a not-for-profit membership
organization of manufacturers, sellers, or providers of technology-based
assistive devices and/or services. ATIA's annual conference provides a
forum for education and communication to professional practitioners serving
those with disabilities (teachers, occupational therapists, rehabilitation
counselors, physicians, psychologists, etc.), with the overarching goal
of providing enhanced benefits and opportunities to people with disabilities.
ATIA also "speaks with a common voice" for the AT industry,
and works with Electronics & Information Technology (EIT) companies
and government, on matters of common interest such as Section 508 of the
Rehablitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and comparable
continuing issues.
